Wei Leng TAY’s work “The Other Shore” and Kurt TONG’s work “Threads of Sisterhood” won the WMA Masters 2016/17 – MOBILITY jointly, sharing a cash prize of HK$250,000.
Xyza Bacani is a Filipina Street and Documentary Photographer who has been featured in New York Times Lens Blog, CNN and various international media publications not only for her excellence in photography but also for her inspirational story.
The WMA Masters seeks to foster the growth of photography as an art form in Hong Kong, as well as to spark dialogue and nurture awareness on social issues in the city. This year’s theme is “Mobility”, and the theme for the 2017/18 cycle is “Transition”. The winner of the award will be announced at the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibition featuring finalists for the theme, “Mobility”, will be held at Comix Home Base from 14 April to 6 May 2017. The WMA Masters will also host a series of public programs during the exhibition period. The exhibition will be curated by the Hong Kong-based C&G Artpartment.
